The Caster Group developed and built our first self storage property, one we still own, in 1983. In the 35 years since that first A-1 Self Storage location, we have successfully developed, built, and managed properties for the Caster family. We now own a portfolio of 51 self storage properties in California under the A-1 Self Storage name.
We have developed a core team comprised of people committed to developing the best properties and operating them in a way that builds value for the owners and creates an exceptional storage experience for our customers.
The Caster Group has always been a leader in innovation, and has embraced new technologies that have enabled us to remain on the forefront of industry innovation. We were a leader in recognizing the role the internet would come to play in the self storage business, and as a result were among the first to create a state of the art web site that enabled people to effortlessly find our properties and shop for availability and prices. We have continued over the years to update and expand our website, and we now offer customers the ability to rent a unit online from the comfort of their home, even via their smartphone.
We were one of the first regional operators to establish an in-house call center thus enabling us to more successfully and efficiently convert prospects to customers to maximize revenues. In addition, the call center allows us to better serve both our existing customers and our front line Storage Associates by ensuring that calls are answered in a timely manner by knowledgeable representatives.
We also utilize self-serve kiosks at many of our locations allowing us to reduce costs while still giving customers first class service and the ability to conveniently rent a unit any time of the day or night. It is this ability to integrate cutting edge technologies such as a kiosk at the store linked to a knowledgeable call center agent that has made the Caster Group a leader in self storage management.
